Padang - GM (Young Generation) of Agricultural Technology Faculty (Fateta) Andalas University (Unand) held a Lecture Series History (LSH) with the theme “Secercah Harapan untuk Masa Depan Menggapai Pemenang Sejati”. The event was held on Saturday, October 20th 2018, at the 5th Floor Unand Central Library. The purpose of this event is to inspire and motivate students to be able to change their mindset for the future.
Participants at this event not only came from Fateta Unand, but also came from various departments in Unand and several students of Padang State Polytechnic.
According to M. Akbar Bolqiah, as the chief executive, LSH was Fateta Unand's annual agenda which was held again after two years of being vacuumed due to several obstacles. This event was also GM Fateta's final work before graduation.
"This event is expected to increase the activeness of BEM Fateta so that it can embrace all Fateta students to be able to achieve better future." Said Dr. Ir. Feri Arlius, M. Sc as Deputy Dean III Fateta Unand.
Then, Feri also explained that LSH was filled by successful Fateta alumnus in order to motivate and inspire all participants, especially Fateta students. At the time, the speakers were Fateta Unand alumnus from the year of 1997, Syafrizaldi Jpang. Syafrizaldi is currently an activist and writer who has published 19 books.
The material presented by Syafrizaldi in this event is about creative thinking. According to him, creative thinking is a very important thing to be applied by all people in this world.
"All people in this world are important to think creatively because everything in front of us is a mystery. Tomorrow there will be or not we don't know, we do? What does it mean, thinking creatively for today, tomorrow and the day after that will be very important than we give up today ”.
Syafrizal also added that it is better for us to act today than not to do anything. In other words, we better try today and enjoy the results in the future. He also said that he was happy to share with anyone.
Ainul, one of the LSH participants explained that there were a lot of lessons learned from Syafrizal as the speaker. According to her, she got more understanding about ways to be better in her field and make herself able to be creative. Ainul added that the current theory was very much. However, through this event the existing theories could be better reflected. She hopes that what she gets today can be applied in her daily life and she could be a successful person like Syafrizal.
"For students who are studying at this time should not underestimate a seminar because there are so many figures who will come from there and we don't know what the future will be like. However, to be a great person, we have to start from small things like learning from other people's life experiences." She added.
