Hallo, Good People !! after understanding journalism and its types, we we now are going to discuss interviews and tips for doing so. An interview is an activity carried out to get information directly from the relevant informan. In general, in interviews there are several things that must be done, namely: contacting and introducing ourselves to the reviewee, preparing a meeting with the interviewee, preparing a questionnaire, and conducting the interview process.
Interviews sometimes have a number of obstacles, especially if the informants are important people. Often interviews are not conducive because the interviewer is unable to adapt and lead the interview process properly. Some of the following journalists are no stranger to our country. They have expertise in conducting interviews with all people ranging from any religion figures, artists, to politicians.
1. Najwa Shihab
Najwa Shihab, who is famous as the host of an talkshow called mata najwa, is one of Indonesia's senior journalists. The Indonesian university alumnus who is also the daughter of an ulama is famous for her sharp and critical interview style. Some of the characteristics of Najwa when interviewing are:
Believe yourself; he always shows confidence when conducting interviews
Gives a look and gesture that shows its curiosity.
Choosing the right words in each question.
Understanding the material, surroundings, context, and issues as a whole so that
the interviews he did clash with the answers and responses of the speakers.
- Mastering interview sessions; Najwa always tries to master the interview session no matter who is the source person. With her confidence and material mastery, she was able to lead interviews well and conducively.

2. Aiman Witjaksono
AimanWitjaksono became a publicly discussed figure since he interviewed the governor of North Sumatra who was also the Chairperson of the PSSI some time ago. From Aiman, we are able to learn that sometimes there are unexpected things that will happen during the interview process. Whether it's an attack from a informan or the informan who doesn't want to answer questions. There are several things exemplified by Aiman in his interview as a journalist:
Still patiently facing an emotional interviewee
If the informan gives a refutation, we must provide evidence and clear facts.
Not to be provoked or emotional about the respondent's reaction and still deal it with a smile.

3. Balques Manisang
The TV One presenter who is also one of Indonesia's senior journalists is also no less great. Balques has the ability to build chemistry with interviewees. In addition, Balques was also able to provide short questions that were able to make the interviewees answer questions with length. The way Balques built chemistry and asked questions from the resource person can be seen on the video when he interviewed Ustad Abdul Somad:

From the interview method of the three journalists above, we can conclude that in conducting interviews we must be able to position precisely and prepare all data and facts, and be able to master the interview session. Good luck!

  1. Nice post as usual! I've been reading your posts for a while but only now I had the chance to comment, I guess I was just too lazy. Anyway may I give some suggestion? I think, if this article refers to the characteristics of the said journalists when they are interviewing that being analyze by you or other people, instead of direct tips that they had given themselves, the phrase "according to" as in the title is unsuitable. We only use according to when we refer to an opinion from someone else or somewhere else (please visit https://dictionary.cambridge.org/grammar/british-grammar/useful-phrases/according-to for more details). However, if they give the information themselves, you should probably make it more clearer by clearly stating "According to..." on the content as well. It is only my suggestion though, feel free write whatever you want to write :)
